Frequently asked Questions

I have compiled a list of commonly enquired questions to help you find the answers you need

  • When should I see an orthopedic surgeon?

You should see an orthopedic surgeon if you have persistent pain, swelling, or stiffness in your joints, muscles, or bones that doesn’t improve with rest or conservative treatments. They can help diagnose the underlying issue and recommend the appropriate treatment.

  • How long is the recovery time after orthopedic surgery?

Recovery time varies depending on the type of surgery and the patient’s overall health. Minor procedures may require only a few weeks of recovery, while more extensive surgeries, like joint replacements, may require several months of rehabilitation.

  • Do orthopedic surgeons only perform surgery?

No, orthopedic surgeons explore non-surgical treatment options first, such as physical therapy, medications, and injections. Surgery is typically considered only when conservative treatments fail to alleviate symptoms or improve function.

  • When should I see a doctor for a sports injury?

You should see a doctor if the pain is severe, if you are unable to bear weight on the injured area, if there is significant swelling, or if you experience numbness or instability in the joint. Persistent pain or an injury that doesn’t improve with self-care also warrants a visit to the doctor.

  • What is an ACL injury, and how is it treated?

An ACL injury involves a tear or sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee, often occurring during sports that involve sudden stops or changes in direction. Treatment may include rest, physical therapy, and in severe cases, surgery to repair the torn ligament.

  • Can sports injuries lead to long-term complications

If not properly treated, sports injuries can lead to long-term complications such as chronic pain, instability, decreased range of motion, and increased risk of re-injury. Early and appropriate treatment is essential to minimize these risks.
